Parents

Parenting can be deeply rewarding — but when your child is struggling, it can also feel confusing, isolating, or overwhelming. You might notice changes in mood or behaviour, or simply sense something isn’t quite right. It’s natural to want to help, but not always easy to know how.

As a qualified and experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, I offer a calm, reflective space to explore what may be going on beneath the surface. I work with children, young people, and families to understand emotional difficulties and support meaningful, lasting change.

Supporting you and your child

Common Concerns Parents Bring

  • Anxiety, low mood, or emotional outbursts

  • Social withdrawal or loss of interest in activities

  • Challenges with friendships, school, or focus

  • Sleep, eating, or physical issues without medical cause

  • Reactions to loss, trauma, bullying, or family changes

  • Behaviours that seem confusing, concerning, or out of character

Children and adolescents often struggle to express their feelings in words. Distress may show up subtly or through behaviour. Therapy helps tune in to what’s being communicated — even when it’s not said directly.

I work with children and young people from birth to age 25. Depending on age and need, sessions may involve play, talking, or creative expression. I also offer space for parents and carers to reflect on their child’s emotional world and their role within it.

Therapy can support:

  • Stronger emotional regulation and coping

  • Improved communication and connection at home

  • Deeper understanding of your child’s inner world

  • Reduced anxiety, low mood, or troubling behaviours

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can be especially helpful when difficulties relate to early experiences, loss, trauma, or complex family dynamics. Relational therapies — which focus on inner life and key relationships — are shown to support lasting improvements in emotional wellbeing.

If you’re considering therapy, I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation. This gives you a chance to talk through what’s been going on and see if this feels like the right fit.
